Public participation in the update of the Long Range Transportation Plan
The Evansville MPO values public participation because the transportation system is significant to virtually everyone and has far-reaching, long-term impacts across local communities. Public participation in the development of the 2035 Transportation Plan is being provided by several methods:
A transportation questionnaire was developed by MPO staff to gather public opinion regarding the current transportation system and strategies to improve area transportation. The survey has been circulated in the community and is available in our office and on this website.
A citizens advisory committee, composed of people from a wide variety of backgrounds and interests, has been created to evaluate various aspects of the Plan and its development;
Special public meeting sessions will be held in order to solicit public opinion in updating our regional transportation plan. All interested parties are invited to attend these meetings to provide recommendations on proposed projects, point out areas of concern to the MPO staff, and complete a transportation questionnaire;
The Technical and Policy Committee meetings of the MPO are open to the public. Both are held on the first Thursday of each month. Technical Committee meetings are held at 10:00 a.m. in Room 318 of the Evansville Civic Center; Policy Committee meetings are held at 4:00 p.m. in Room 301 of the Evansville Civic Center (Council/Commission chambers);
The MPO’s website contains plan update information, interactive maps of proposed local/regional transportation projects, the transportation questionnaire mentioned previously, comment forms, and schedules for the various public and MPO committee meetings.
A new Public Participation Plan (PPP) has been developed by the MPO. Please see our PPP webpage.
